What to expect

A check in with yourself and with me

It is helpful for you and for me to know what you want from your treatment. I will take a confidential history from you asking about your medical history, any medication you may be taking, lifestyle and areas of concern etc. What you tell me will help to inform the treatment that you receive and will reflect your needs.

During a treatment

I have a treatment couch and using pillows we will make sure that you are comfortable to be lying down. Using warm flannels I will wash your feet (or your hands), before using lotion or wax for the treatment. I will, one foot at a time apply gentle pressure to the reflex points on your feet which correspond to various parts of your body. Overall it should be a gentle experience helping the body to enter a place of deep relaxation. Sometimes there will be tenderness, or a feeling of crunches – these areas of sensitivity along with information you have given me further informs the reflexology treatment that you receive. The intention I usually set is for the body to take from the treatment what it needs most to rebalance.

After a treatment

I always advise to be gentle with yourself after a treatment, and take it easy and use the time to really listen to your body. It is good to drink plenty of water to help flush out waste products from the body, avoiding caffeine and alcohol.

After a treatment the body’s healing response may be varied ; you may feel super relaxed, maybe energised or even tired. As part of the healing response, it is possible some symptoms may feel worse before feeling better. It varies from person to person, and although not ususal, this is not uncommon; take this time to listen to your body and rest.
